COLUMBIA, S.C. – The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has reopened several conditionally approved clam and oyster beds in Beaufort County.
“All conditionally approved clam and oyster beds in Broad Creek and Jenkins Creek have been reopened because water quality sampling results indicate bacteria levels are suitable for harvesting,” said Mike Pearson, manager of DHEC's Shellfish Sanitation program. “Area 13 remains closed due to elevated bacteria levels.”
A map showing all of South Carolina’s shellfish growing areas is available on DHEC’s website at:http://www.scdhec.gov/sfmaps.
