Certificate of Need Review Panel meeting cancelled

COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina's Certificate of Need Review Panel has cancelled the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 22, 2012, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

The next meeting is scheduled for June 26th at 10 a.m. on the 1st floor of the Heritage Building (DHEC) located at 1777 St. Julian Place, Columbia. The meeting will be in the McNeely Conference Room.

Appointed by the DHEC Board in January 2012, the CON Review Panel includes 24 members who represent a broad range of stakeholder interests. The panel will seek to improve the agency's internal process regarding its CON program through user/provider input. This includes the following goals:

  • Streamline the CON process, making it less onerous
  • Standardize the weighting of criteria within the CON regulation
  • Examine the current statute as it relates to the changing needs within the community/population/circumstance
  • Evaluate instances in which CON should and should not be required.
