COLUMBIA, S.C. - Hearing aid specialists interested in taking the qualifying examination for licensure have until August 3, 2012, to submit an application and a $95 fee to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, the agency announced today.
"Anyone, including temporary permit holders or those who previously took the examination and did not pass, may apply to take the examination," said Terry English of DHEC's Division of Health Licensing. "Anyone who fits and sells hearing aids, other than a South Carolina licensed medical doctor or audiologist, must possess a current hearing aid specialist license or temporary permit issued by DHEC."
"The written portion of the examination will be administered on September 11," English said. "Those who pass the written portion of the examination will be able to take the practical portion on November 20. Applicants must pass both the written and practical portions to qualify for licensure."
Those who wish to take the examination should contact English at (803) 545-4458, or via e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
