COLUMBIA, S.C. - Those who are interested in taking the qualifying examination for licensure as a hearing aid specialist have until Feb. 12, 2013 to submit an application and a fee of $95 to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, the agency announced today.
"The written portion of the examination will be administered on March 12," said Terry English of DHEC's Division of Health Licensing. "Those who pass the written portion of the examination will be able to take the practical portion on May 7. Applicants must pass both the written and practical portions to qualify for licensure."
English also said that anyone, including temporary permit holders or those who previously took the examination and did not pass, may apply to take the examination. Anyone who fits and sells hearing aids, other than a South Carolina licensed medical doctor or audiologist, must have a current hearing aid specialist license or temporary permit issued by DHEC.
