New member approved for health and environment board

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Charles M. Joye II has been appointed to the S.C. Board of Health and Environmental Control by Governor Nikki Haley and approved by the state Senate, the agency announced today.

"Mr. Joye brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the business community with him, and will be a valuable asset to ensure that DHEC is operating in the best interests of the state's health and environment," said Catherine Templeton, DHEC director.

Joye is a graduate of Clemson University. He has been a practicing civil engineer for 40 years in South Carolina and is founder and CEO of Design South Professionals, Inc. in Anderson. He is an active member of the S.C. Society of Professional Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies of S.C., chairman of the Salvation Army of Anderson County and a member of the Rotary Club of Anderson.

Joye began his term on Feb. 28 and will be filling the term of the third Congressional District that expires June 30, 2015. The DHEC board is responsible for providing policy guidance and oversight, approving regulations, hearing appeals of regulatory decisions made by staff, and overseeing the agency's work and operations in general.
