COLUMBIA, S.C. - The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) will hold an informational session to provide stakeholders with available information on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Clean Power Plan proposal . The agenda includes a basic overview of the proposal, a discussion of various state agencies' roles, and the significance of public engagement in the proposed plan.
The session will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 4:00- 6:00 p.m. in the Peeples Auditorium at DHEC's main office located at 2600 Bull Street in Columbia.
Released by the EPA on June 2, 2014, the Clean Power Plan is proposing state-specific goals for carbon reductions from existing power plants. The states will be responsible for developing a compliance plan to be approved by the EPA. The informational session hosted by DHEC and its partners will provide awareness of the proposal and its content, as well as encourage others to present comments on the proposal to the EPA.
