DHEC hosts recycling workshop for teachers

COLUMBIA - The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control is hosting a recycling workshop for teachers on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Governor's School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville.

The "Take Action Today" workshop, the third and final environmental curriculum teacher workshop offered by DHEC this summer, is set for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sessions include a composting and water quality demonstration at Kalmia Gardens, recycling resources, local recycling programs and roundtable discussions.

"Action for a cleaner tomorrow" ("Action") is a K-12 activity-based, interdisciplinary curriculum supplement that introduces basic environmental education. "Action" was developed and tested by South Carolina teachers and is correlated to the state's science standards.
The Governor's School for Science and Mathematics is located at 401 Railroad Avenue in Hartsville.
