DHEC reopens shellfish beds in Charleston County

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has reopened shellfish beds previously closed due to excessive rainfall in Charleston County, the agency announced today.

"Water quality data indicate that all approved areas from the Stono River Inlet north to the Charleston Harbor are now suitable for harvesting," said Mike Pearson, manager of DHEC's Shellfish Sanitation Section.
