EMS Credentialing System: Register, Create YourProfile

Before you can work as an EMT, a prospective employer must verify that you have met all requirements and are certified to work as an EMT in South Carolina. To ensure they can find your information easily, you should create a profile on the S.C. EMS Data – Credentialing Information System (CIS). Do this  before you finish your training course.

Step 1: Go to  At the bottom of the page, select the link labeled: “Click here for the Public Access site”.

Step 2: Once you’re on the Public Access site, select “South Carolina” as the state you wish to view, then click the shaded link just below it labeled “Enter Public CIS”. You should now be logged into the system as a South Carolina Guest.

Step 3: On the left-hand side of the page, click “Personnel.” This will open up a drop-down “Personnel Search” option.

Step 4: Click on “Personnel Search”. Enter your first and last name in the spaces provided, then click “Search.” (Do not enter any other information.)

  • If your name appears on the screen, do not attempt to register. Instead, call DHEC’s Division of EMS & Trauma at (803) 545-4204. Ask to speak with the manager for Training and Certification or the EMS coordinator.
  • If you do not find your name in the CIS database, you’ll see the message “Nothing found to display.”This means you’ll need to register/create a profile to use the CIS.

Step 5: Register/Create Profile.  On the left side of the screen, click the word “Profile.” You’ll see “Register to use CIS.”  Click that link. Enter the required information, then click “Save” in the bottom right-hand corner. You are now registered in CIS and have been assigned a six-digit number. This six-digit SC number will become your S.C. EMT certification number after you have satisfied all certification.
