What can I do with collected recyclables?
Finding a market for the recyclables you collect at work may be the toughest part of starting or expanding a recycling program.
First, check with your local government to see if it’s able to help your organization. And second, below are some links to different market resources.
- * Green Resource Index contains a listing of recyclers (both in and out-of-state) that are sorted by recovered material they accept.
- The S.C. Department of Commerce’s Recycling Business Directory provides convenient search features allowing users to find outlets for recycling commodities.
- The S.C. Materials Exchange is a free service that seeks to reduce waste by facilitating the exchange of reusable materials by businesses, non-profit institutions and government. It serves as a "matchmaking service" that provides users access to information on materials available or wanted.
- The S.C. Green Building Directory (SCGBD) is a resource for those interested in green building in South Carolina. The SCGBDcontains information about products and services that support green building practices as well as a listing of recyclers for construction and demolition debris.
*Please note that DHEC does not endorse any of the listings included in the Index. It is the responsibility of the users of the Index to confirm that all federal, state and local regulations are met by the contacts made using this Index. The information in this Index is solicited from and provided by the listed organizations. No charge is made to list the organization and no charge is made for distribution of the Index.
