Philip Services Corporation (a/k/a ThermalKEM) Site Cleanup - Get Involved

DHEC held a public meeting on August 26, 2014, at 6:30 pm, at South Pointe High School's Auditorium, 801 Neely Road, Rock Hill, SC.  The purpose of the meeting was to provide information on the sampling results and the cleanup alternatives considered by DHEC to address the soil and groundwater contamination at the Site. ​  The Proposed Plan Public Meeting Powerpoint Presentation, is provided for information only, as it does not provide the detailed explanation that the meeting attendees received during the Department's Proposed Plan meeting.  When it is available, the meeting transcript will be posted.

Submit Written Comments by November 26, 2014

At the August 26, 2014 public meeting, the Department extended the public comment period until October 27, 2014; and on September 18, 2014, the Department again extended the public comment period until November 26, 2014. Written comments on cleanup alternatives considered for the Site will be accepted through November 26, 2014, and should be submitted to Lucas Berresford, Project Manager, DHEC--Bureau of Land and Waste Management, 2600 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201, or emailed to berresjl@dhec.sc.gov

All comments will be considered before a final cleanup alternative is selected by DHEC.

DHEC has developed a list of residents living near the Site and all persons who attended the August 26, 2014 public meeting and signed the sign-in sheet, are already on the mailing list to receive future updates about the Site cleanup. In addition, all known potentially responsible parties are also on the mailing list.
