Twin Chimneys Landfill – Greenville County

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has provided regulatory oversight of Twin Chimneys Landfill since November 2003 when its solid waste permit was issued. The landfill began accepting waste in February 2007. Residents of the local community have recently shared many concerns about landfill operations with DHEC staff. Landfill representatives are working cooperatively with DHEC to address these concerns. DHEC has also been working with local residents, Greenville County officials, and elected representatives to encourage open dialogue and collaboration between all interested parties. We remain steadfast in continuing our work to find resolutions for the issues that affect not only this community, but many communities living around landfills today.

DHEC staff will be providing information on air quality and surface water monitoring at the March 10, 2016 community meeting to be held at 7:00 p.m. at Columbia Baptist Church located at 11321 Augusta Road in Honea Path.

DHEC is committed to keeping the local community informed of ongoing progress with issues concerning the landfill.  This web page will be updated as future information is available.
