| Dr. Manning Simons
presented a report on State Medicine
and Public Hygiene to the South Carolina Medical Association. This report was
then presented to the General Assembly. With the yellow fever epidemic fresh
on their minds, they passed the law to establish the Board of Health on
December 23, 1878: |
