1960’s
| The 1960’s brought significant change in
public health programs. Medicare and
Medicaid were created to provide health insurance coverage for the elderly
and low-income population. The Board
of Health developed a home health nursing service in the mid - 1960’s to
provide care to homebound patients in need of skilled nursing services. The county health departments were
organized into multi-county public health districts. |
