Environmental Excellence program recognizes industry
COLUMBIA – Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, LLC, has been recognized as one of the newest members of the South Carolina Environmental Excellence Program, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.
"The facility has shown a commitment to environmental excellence by utilizing its environmental management system to manage its environmental programs and foster continual improvement in its environmental performance,” said Bob King, DHEC’s deputy commissioner for Environmental Quality Control.
"Through their recycling efforts, the company prevented more than 400 tons of material from going into a landfill in 2007," King said. "Another demonstration of support for our goal of improving South Carolina’s environment is their involvement in the development of the Upstate Air Quality Action Plan.”
SCEEP is a voluntary initiative designed to recognize and reward South Carolina facilities that have demonstrated environmental performance through pollution prevention, energy and resource conservation, and the use of an environmental management system. DHEC has supported the program since its creation in 1997.
Glen Raven, one of the world’s leading textile manufacturers, produces durable outdoor and indoor fabrics at the Anderson facility.
Christine Steagall serves as program coordinator for the SCEEP. She can be reached at (803) 896-8986, or steagacl@dhec.sc.gov.
