DHEC’s Region 1 Home Health Services receives CHAP commendation
COLUMBIA, S.C. - S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Region 1 Home Health Services recently passed the Community Health Accreditation Process (CHAP), the agency announced today.
“We are so pleased that the program passed with flying colors,” said Becky F. Campbell, PhD., DHEC’s Region 1 public health director. “They received a stellar review for services provided and for program management.”
According to Campbell, CHAP is a national organization for home health accreditation and Medicare certification.
“This accreditation came during a time of economic challenges,” she said. “Despite the loss of nursing personnel, the team has continued to provide excellent services to the homebound residents of the community.”
Campbell said CHAP also recognized Region 1 Home Health Services for implementing a monitoring program where high-risk patients are given a telemonitor for home use. A nurse is able to monitor the patient’s vital signs and other information from a distance and can work with the patient’s physician to intervene when indicated. That level of intervention can diminish the need for emergency treatment.
