DHEC reopens Charleston County shellfish harvesting areas
COLUMBIA, S.C. - All approved shellfish harvesting areas in the Stono River and Schooner Creek have reopened, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported today.
"These areas are now open for harvesting after being closed as a precaution due to a sewage spill in the Ashley River," said Mike Pearson, manager of DHEC's shellfish sanitation program.
