Stroke Systems of Care Study Committee to meet

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Stroke Systems of Care Study Committee will hold its fourth meeting on Friday, May 7, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the offices of the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, 1st floor McNeely Conference Room, 1777 St. Julian Place in Columbia. The public is invited to attend.

The legislated Stroke Systems Study Committee is comprised of 18 stroke champions representing professional organizations throughout the state.

The committee is charged with developing a plan for statewide stroke care. This plan must include, among other things, an urgent response system, coordination of treatment, methods for evaluating the impact of strokes in S.C., a strategy to reduce stroke disparities among minorities and underserved populations, and public awareness programs for stroke education.
