Johns Island teen health center hosts 'Back to School' event

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Point on Johns Island, a health center just for teens in Charleston County, is having a "Rock da House" back to school open house on Thursday, Aug. 26, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

"We want teens to join us and see that you can have fun and learn and be healthy at the same time," said Stephanie Friesner, family planning services manager for DHEC's Region 7 public health office, which serves Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

Friesner said activities will include music, prizes provided by Communities in Schools, and other resources to help teens.

"In addition to the teen public health services we have on the island, we at The Point also have a very strong interest in our youth's education and personal safety," she said.

The Point is located at 3574 Maybank Highway, Johns Island. The "Rock da House" open house will be from 2-6 p.m.

The Point teen health center is a partnership between DHEC and Communities in Schools.
