DHEC Board thanks Commissioner for service

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The S.C. Board of Health and Environmental Control today thanked outgoing Commissioner Earl Hunter for his service to the state. Board Chairman Allen Amsler thanked Commissioner Hunter for his uncompromising dedication to the state of South Carolina and her people.

“Mr. Hunter has given his entire career in service to the people of this state,” Amsler said. “That kind of dedication is something you simply don’t see much anymore. I and the other Board members wish him all the best in his retirement and thank him for his 31 years of service to the agency and the state.”

“We are grateful for Mr. Hunter's long service to our state and wish him well,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Hunter announced last week that he would be retiring from the agency on Feb. 1. He plans to remain with the agency until that time, and has offered to assist with the transition of the agency to a new commissioner.

Amsler said that the Board plans to conduct an extensive search for Hunter’s replacement and will start that process in the very near future.
