Certificate of Need Review Panel meeting set
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina's Certificate of Need Review Panel will meet Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. on the 18th floor of the McNair Law Firm Building in Columbia, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.
Appointed by the DHEC Board in January 2012, the CON Review Panel includes 23 members who represent a broad range of stakeholder interests. The panel will seek to improve the agency's internal process regarding its CON program through user/provider input. This includes the following goals:
- Streamline the CON process, making it less onerous.
- Standardize the weighting of criteria within the CON regulation.
- Examine the current statute as it relates to the changing needs within the community/population/circumstance.
- Evaluate instances in which CON should and should not be required.
