Division of Informatics

The Division of Informatics identity and focus is on data and information presentation through the electronic and geographic integration of and interoperability with multiple internal and external systems and data sources. Informatics is a spatial, systems analysis and integration support unit for DHEC which aids program areas and technical staff with the development of integrated, standards-based applications and tools that allow DHEC to more efficiently integrate, distribute, and analyze data from a wide variety of sources to assist in public health activities statewide. Some typical projects include vital records, public health surveillance data, environmental information and health outcomes statistical reporting, presentation and exchanges with federal, state and internal partners.

Two of the central applications developed under the guidance of Informatics and maintained by the Division include the South Carolina Community Assessement Network (SCAN) and the South Carolina Environmental Public Health Tracking Network (EPHT).
