| Sustainable Opportunities Assessment Visits: All sustainable opportunities assessment visits are free, confidential, non-regulatory and by invitation only. When invited, the Center can perform sustainable opportunities assessments to help facilities reduce their wastes and/or recycle by-products and provide information on pollution prevention. Services may include providing information on regulatory concerns by relaying questions to DHEC's staff in a confidential format. | |||
| Compliance Assistance Visits: Compliance assistance visits are free, confidential, non-regulatory, and by invitation only. A compliance assistance visit will help a facility gain a better understanding of what the environmental regulations require to remain in compliance. Such visits also provide an opportunity to ask regulatory questions confidentially. | Information Clearinghouse: In-house publications include the Index of Waste Minimization Resources and A Handy Guide to Enviromental Compliance which can be used to promote both the waste minimization program and the regulatory compliance program of a company. Other information services include the latest in pollution prevention and waste minimization techniques, answers to regulatory questions, and mentoring opportunities between facilities. | |||
| Innovation Approaches: The Center works with companies to provide guidance on innovative environmental approaches, including environmental management systems, to help facilities move “beyond compliance”. | |||
| Awards and Recognition Programs: The Center coordinates the South Carolina 's Environmental Excellence Program, the states voluntary environmental leadership program, and participates in EPA's National Environmental Performance Track Program. | |||
