Permitting is a main component of the Bureau of Water's comprehensive Water Quality Protection Program. The Bureau of Water issues a wide variety of permits, approvals, and certifications involving a number of different activities and facilities throughout the State of South Carolina. Permitting activities help to ensure that both the environment and public health are protected. Each of the permitting programs is supported by laws and regulations that are specific to the program area.
