What is Take a Break from the Exhaust?

Take a Break from the Exhaust (TABFTE) is an internet-based computer program created by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. It tracks voluntary actions employees take to reduce air pollution from mobile sources by reducing the amount of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) during the work week.

The information that employees enter into the program is set up to calculate and display your estimated reductions of mobile source emissions. It also lists other participating employees at your workplace and ranks your emissions reductions with theirs.

TABFTE also provides ground-level ozone forecasts during ozone season; April 1st – September 30th.

Did you know?

A bus with as few as 7 passengers is more fuel-efficient than the average single occupant auto used for commuting.

If you have questions, comments, or are interested in having your organization participate in the Take a Break From the Exhaust Program, please contact Jack Porter  (803) 898-3829
