"Work is something you do, not something you travel to."
Telecommuting allows employees to reduce their commute by performing all or some of their work away from their normal place of business. While telecommuting, employees may work from home or a satellite office. Telecommuters are reducing vehicle miles traveled and mobile source emissions while improving air quality. They also save money and time for themselves and their employers.
DHEC allows and encourages the use of telecommuting. Currently, about 22 percent of DHEC's Bureau of Air Quality staff telecommute as part of their normal work schedule.
