We promote and protect the health of the public and the environment.
The Bureau of Air Quality has been paying close attention to the air quality in the North Charleston area for decades. Several years of collaboration have led to projects and initiatives to evaluate and improve local air quality. Partners in these projects include local governments, community groups, school districts, private industries, local residents, DHEC and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
These webpages will provide information about North Charleston’s air quality, local air quality events, and ways to reduce air pollution in the North Charleston area.
