South Carolina Regulation 61-81 gives the Office of Environmental Laboratory Certification authority to issue certification to laboratories analyzing regulatory compliance samples for reporting to the S. C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC or Department).

Types of Environmental Labs Certified

Regulation 61-81 applies to any laboratory performing analyses to determine the quality of air, drinking water, hazardous waste, solid waste, or wastewater; performing bioassays; or performing any other analyses related to environmental quality evaluations required by the Department, or will be officially submitted to the Department. This includes Commercial, Federal, Industrial, Mobile, Municipal, and State.
