Oil & Natural Gas Exploration, Drilling and Production
The Solid Waste Groundwater Section is chartered with the responsibility of implementing the South Carolina Oil and Gas Exploration, Drilling, and Production regulation R.121-8. The purpose of this regulation is to prevent the waste of oil and gas, to protect correlative rights and to prevent pollution of the water, air, and land by oil and gas exploration or production activities.
The Emergency Response Section is chartered with the responsibility of implementing the South Carolina Oil & Gas Act section 48-43-540 - Registration certificate required to operate terminal facility; issuance of certificates; fess. A terminal facility is either a fixed or mobile land based operation, or a vessel that transfers pollutants over waters of the state in the coastal environment.
