Richland Recycles Day set for May 17Richland County residents (NO businesses, please) are invited to participate in Richland County Recycles Day at the State Fairgrounds (1200 Rosewood Drive, Columbia) on May 17. The event will include educational events for students, teachers and parents in the Ellison Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents also will have the chance to recycle the following household items between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.:

Cooking Oil
Cooking oil (cooking oil, fats and greases) is accepted -- from households ONLY -- at the Public Works facility at 2910 Colonial Drive. The facility is open from 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Please note that cooking oil containers are not accepted for recycling at this site. Electronics Recycling
Electronics, household (televisions, computers, computer monitors, printers and other electronic equipment) and fluorescent bulbs -- from City of Columbia residents ONLY -- can be recycled at the Public Works facility at 2910 Colonial Drive. Items can be dropped off between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Please call (803) 545-3780 for more information.
Telephone Book Recycling
Telephone books can now be recycled year round in the City of Columbia. Residents can recycle their telephone books by simply placing them in their curbside recycling containers. City of Columbia residents also can recycle telephone books at both of the drop-sites listed below. Remember to put them in the recycling container for newspaper.
