Champions of the Environment wants South Carolina’s young people to improve and protect the natural world. Each year champions rewards K-12 students and teachers for their envinmental awareness and action. Maybe you will be the next Champion of the Environment.
There are 2 ways to become a Champion:
- The Grant Award Program rewards projects that help the environment. South Carolina's K-12 students, teachers and environmental educators can apply for a $2000 grant. Projects that come close to receiving a grant are offered a Merit Award of $400 to get their projects started. Grantees compete to be named Overall Champions of the Environment and win additional cash at the end of the school year.
- The Environmental Awareness Middle School Competition rewards students for their enviromental knowledge. This event is for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. First through third place winners receive cash awards.
