A Note For MS4s

Keep an eye out for A Note For MS4s at the bottom of many of the following pages.

MS4 stands for Municipal Seperate Storm Sewer System. It is also a short-hand term for communities that have storm sewer systems that are seperate from their sanitary sewer systems. S.C. DHEC has permitted many of these communites to manage the level of pollutants coming from their stormwater. The following pages will use "MS4" as a short-hand for these permitted communities.

Do you represent an MS4 or are you working with one?

  • No! You probably do not need to read these notes. If you would like to learn more about the MS4 permit, visit the NPDES Stormwater Program page.
  • Yes! These notes are for you.
