Section 303(d)(1) of the Clean Water Act (CWA), 33 U.S.C. §1313(d)(1)(C), and the implementing regulation of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA, 40 C.F.R. §130.7(c)(1), require the establishment of total maximum daily loads (TMDLs) for waters identified as impaired pursuant to §303(d)(1)(A) of the CWA. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has developed proposed fecal coliform bacteria TMDLs for the identified §303(d)(1)(A) waters.
