The Catawba River Basin incorporates 21 watersheds and some
1.5 million acres within the State of South Carolina (a portion of the basin
resides in North Carolina). The Catawba River Basin extends through the
Piedmont, Sandhills, and Upper Coastal Plain regions of the State. There are
approximately 2,943 stream miles and 26,308 acres of lake waters in the
basin.

characteristics, natural resources, growth potential, potential nonpoint
