Develop Watershed Plans
A Watershed-Based Plan is a roadmap that helps communities define and address water quality problems within a given watershed. Good watershed plans include stakeholder participation, assessment of the specific causes and sources of water quality problems, identification of measurable water quality goals, and implementation of specific actions needed to solve those problems. Steps to Developing Watershed-Based Plans summarizes the watershed planning process.
DHEC has developed the South Carolina Simplified Guide to Developing Watershed-Based Plans. It provides a simplified overview of EPA's nine key elements of watershed planning. DHEC has also created two documents to assist stakeholders during the watershed planning process. The Watershed-Based Plan Checklist can help you during the planning process to ensure all required elements have been addressed. Expectations for Watershed-Based Plans outlines DHEC's expectations for watershed-based plans and provides tools and suggestions to help meet those expectations.
Your Watershed Manager can also help you learn about, develop, and implement watershed-based plans.
