Drinking Water - Source Specific Monitoring

The following compliance monitoring is source specific which means the samples are finished water samples (after treatment) and prior to the water entering the distribution system. These samples are collected from either a groundwater source (well) or surface water source (all water which is open to the atmosphere and subject to surface runoff).

All sampling is currently based upon monitoring cycles. The current monitoring cycle is three years which began January 1, 2002 and goes through December 31, 2004.

• Monitoring Strategy for Public Water Systems:

Type C & P - Population less than 3300

	Ground	Surface
Nitrate	Annually	Annually
Inorganics	One during period 2002-2004	Annually
Volatile Organics	One during period 2002-2004	One during period 2002-2004
Synthetic Organics	One during period 2002-2004	One during period 2002-2004

Type C & P

- Population greater than 3300 -- Same as previous, except  two consecutive quarters of Synthetic Organics are collected during the period 2002-2004.

Type N

	Ground	Surface
Nitrate	Annually	Annually

Type S

- There are currently no requirements to conduct any of the above monitoring.  The State is over the next two years conducting an initial round from the system for nitrates.
