Arthritis State Plan

The State Plan for Arthritis Action 2006- 2010 was the second five-year blueprint for a statewide approach to address arthritis. The plan, which follows the framework of the National Plan for Arthritis Action, includes prevalence data, strategies for prevention, current core capacities, and a call to action to reduce the impact of arthritis in the state.

While the framework for this plan hasn't changed, the Plan of Action 2008-2012 was developed as a revision to reflect goals , objectives, and strategies for 2008-2012.

The original State Plan for Arthritis Action in South Carolina 2000-2005, was one of the first tasks of the SC Arthritis Steering Committee (later transitioned into the South Carolina Arthritis Program Advisory Council). This document laid the foundation for the first statewide, population-based approach to arthritis in South Carolina.

Responsibility for carrying out the State Plan belongs to DHEC staff, the Arthritis Foundation Mid-Atlantic Chapter staff, and the South Carolina Arthritis Program Advisory Council members, along with the many other organizations and individuals throughout South Carolina who are working collaboratively to prevent and manage arthritis.
