About HDSP

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention Division (HDSP) was launched in 1998 with funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Our mission at HDSP is to:

• improve cardiovascular health for all South Carolinians,
• eliminate health disparities, and
• reduce the burden of heart disease and stroke in the Palmetto State.
