Signs That Your Baby May be Sick

Call your baby's nurse or doctor if you think your baby is sick.

  • Fussing or crying that lasts.
  • Changes in eating or sleeping.
  • Changes in skin color or temperature.
  • Throwing up or diarrhea (more than six times a day).
  • Blood in urine or bowel movement (urine may appear brown; stools may appear black).
  • A rash that does not go away.
  • A runny nose, coughing or hoarse crying.
  • Pulling at the ears.
  • Problems breathing.
  • Blood or liquid draining from the ear (go to the doctor right away).
