"Real Men Checkin' It Out"
Prostate Cancer Community and Education Initiative
This is a community driven, culturally appropriate education and communication initiative addressing prostate cancer in the African American community. A partnership with the Palmetto Health initiative has provided additional funding to carry out activities in African American churches in Pickens, Lexington, Richland and Fairfield counties. In addition to education, the initiative has made provisions for free prostate cancer screening to individuals who qualify and reduced fees for those individuals with health insurance. Assistance in finding medical homes will be provided for those individuals who may need follow-up services. Check out the Real Men fact sheet. (pdf)
