Women & Children’s Services

We strive to reach goals that will lead to healthier, safer, and longer lives for residents of the counties we serve. Our goals include:

  • Improving the health status of all children
  • Reducing infant mortality
  • Assuring intervention and assistance for children with special health care needs
  • Reducing low birth weight babies

 

BabyNet

BabyNet is a program that provides services to infants and toddlers, birth to three years of age, with developmental delays or diagnosed disabilities. Children who meet eligibility criteria are served regardless of family income or nationality. The health care provider, parents or guardian can submit a referral form or contact the BabyNet office by phone.

Children's Rehabilitative Services (CRS)

This program strives to provide the best possible care to children ages birth to 21 years and some adults with special health care needs who have low to moderate incomes.

CRS Offers:

  • Medical evaluation and treatment for children with special health care needs
  • Nursing, nutrition, social work, and parent support services
  • Hearing aids, braces and equipment
  • Speech, physical and occupational therapy services
  • Summer camp for children ages 7 to 19
  • Medicines and medical supplies needed for treatment

Child Health

Services are available to any Medicaid eligible child from birth to 21 years of age.

  • WIC Certifications
  • Post Partum / Newborn Home Visit services are available to any infant born to a Medicaid recipient. Some private insurance carriers also cover this service with prior approval.
  • Outreach Nurses who work with medicaid patients on the importance of a medical home, age specific screenings and appointments.
  • Immunizations
  • Lead education and follow up

Dental Health

Our program serves Medicaid eligible patients from the age of 3 to 21 years.

  • Provides in-school screenings for all first grade students in both counties.
  • Provides dental health education to schools upon request.
  • Administers flouride rinse program in participating schools to children kindergarten age through fifth grade.
  • Provides educational and consultative services to other agencies, providers and the community.

Newborn Home Visits

Our program:

  • Is available to post partum women and newborns with Medicaid
  • Includes a physical exam, nutritional assesment, education, linkage to meidcal home and other community sources if needed

  • Pregnancy testing
  • Education
  • Linkage to prenatal care provider
  • Medicaid, WIC
  • Other community resources

Women's Health

The following services are provided by an all-female clinic staff:

  • Reproductive health counseling and education
  • Risk reduction counseling and education
  • Complete gynecological exam
  • Instruction in methods of contraception
  • Immunizations
  • Treatment and/or referral for identified problems

Women, Infants, and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC)

The WIC program provides services to children from birth to five years and to women who are pregnant, have recently been pregnant or are breastfeeding. WIC foods and nutrition counseling are provided to these individuals who have low or moderate income.

WIC services cover:

  • Women who are pregnant, have recently been pregnant or are breastfeeding
  • Newborns to age five years
  • Provisions of specific foods needed for health and growth
  • Nutrition education for all program participants
  • Breastfeeding support and information for new mothers
