School Health Services
School Health Services works closely with all of the schools to implement and coordinate health programs. It provides inservice education opportunities for school nurses and other school personnel. Through a partnership, with the The Regional Medical Center, Region 5 Public Health Office staffs nurses in Orangeburg County Consolidated School District’s III and V.
The following list is a variety of services are offered by the DHEC school nurse:
- on-site immunizations,
- issuing of certificates,
- educational programs on different health topics,
- certain screenings with referral and follow up of abnormal findings,
- EPSDT screenings for Medicaid eligible children,
- administration of medications,
- asthma treatments, and
- monitoring of other health problems.
