Adult Services

 

Adult Sickle Cell Program

This program is for adults over the age of 18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of sickle cell disease. The program provides care coordination and may provide some financial assistance for specialist visits and some medications. To apply please call (843) 915-8806.

 

Family Planning

Any woman who has not had a tubal ligation, hysterectomy or gone through menopause is eligible to receive Family Planning Services. Clients who desire services are charged according to a sliding scale fee based on their income and family size. Medicaid is billed for eligible recipients including clients who qualify for Family Planning assistance.

Services are provided solely on a voluntary basis, without regard to religion, race, color, national origin, creed, handicap, sex, number of pregnancies, national status, age, or contraceptive preference.

We offer comprehensive services to help plan future families. A session may include a physical exam, pregnancy testing, and contraceptives if desired.

HIV

Clinics are conducted on an appointment basis in order to decrease client waiting time. We provide confidential testing, counseling, education and partner notification. HIV testing is also provided as a service in our STD, Tuberculosis, and Family Planning programs. If you would like an appointment, please call (843) 915-8810.

Immunizations

We provide routine childhood immunizations at a public health clinic in each county. We also offer adult vaccinations for flu, pneumonia, tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis (Tdap).

You can get your vaccinations at one of our clinics, through your family physician, or through your child's pediatrician.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases

We provide information, testing, and treatment for diseases that are spread through sexual activity.  

Unlike our other services, Sexually Transmitted Disease testing and treatment may only be booked 24 hours prior to your appointment.  Please call call (843) 915-8810. If outside the local calling area, dial 1-888-422-3646 to make your appointment.

Tuberculosis

Our tuberculosis program is committed to providing services to any individual residing in South Carolina who has, or is suspected of having TB disease or infection. Medicaid will be billed for eligible recipients.

WIC

WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)  is a special supplemental food program, federally funded by the USDA to assist states in safeguarding the health and nutritional well being of our low income women, infants and children during critical growth periods. The WIC program is designed to offer a nutrition health assessment, nutrition and breastfeeding education, health referrals, along with supplemental nutritious foods. The program is available to pregnant women, women who have just had a baby, and children from birth to age 5 who are income and nutritionally eligible.
