Adult Services

 

Adult Sickle Cell Program

This program is for adults over the age of 18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of sickle cell disease. The program provides care coordination and may provide some financial assistance for specialist visits and some medications. Please call (843) 792-3561 for more information and to make a referral.

 

Family Planning

Any woman of childbearing age is eligible to receive Family Planning Services. Clients who desire services are charged according to a sliding scale fee based on their income and family size. Medicaid is billed for eligible recipients including clients who quality for the Medicaid Waiver. Women of any age who are below 100% of the Federal poverty guidelines, and are not eligible for Medicaid, are not charged for family planning services.

Services are provided solely on a voluntary basis, without regard to religion, race, color, national origin, creed, handicap, sex, number of pregnancies, national status, age or contraceptive preference.

We offer comprehensive services to help plan future families. As session includes a physical exam, pregnancy testing and contraceptives if desired.

HIV

Clinics are conducted on an appointment basis in order to decrease client waiting time. We provide confidential testing, counseling, education and partner notification. HIV testing is also provided as a service in our STD, Tuberculosis and Family Planning programs.

Immunizations

We provide routine childhood immunizations at a public health clinic in each county. We also offer adult vaccinations for flu, pneumonia, tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis (Tdap).

You can get your vaccinations at our locations, through your family physician or through your child's pediatrician.

Travel Immunizations
SC DHEC Region 7 clinics do not offer immunizations for foreign travel. If you are trying to locate a travel medicine provider, there are several private providers in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties:

Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Clinics are conducted on an appointment basis in order to decrease client waiting time.

We can provide tests and treatment for diseases spread through sexual activity, including tests and information about HIV. 

Our new Fast Track Service is available in all three counties. To make an appointment at any of our clinics for any of our clinic services, just call 953-0090. If outside the local Charleston calling area, dial 1-(888) 553-6844. If you want one of our Fast Track Service appointments, please specify that when making your appointment. If you do not request the Fast Track Service, all appointments will be for our standard exam.

Save time when you come for your appointment. Just print and fill out these forms then bring them with you to your appointment.

If you are a teenager you can request a Fast Track Service appointment at The Point, our teen only centers on Johns Island and near Northwoods Mall.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease. Cases in Berkeley, Charleston & Dorchester counties are increasing. Find out more (pdf) .

Tuberculosis

Our tuberculosis program is committed to providing services to any individual in South Carolina who has, or is suspected of having, the TB disease or infection. Medicaid will be billed for eligible recipients.

WIC

Region 7 Public Health Office offers WIC services at all county Health Department sites.

The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program is designed to offer a nutrition health assessment, nutrition and breast feeding education, health referrals, along with supplemental nutritious foods. The program is available to pregnant women, women who have just had a baby, and children from birth to age 5 who are income and nutritionally eligible.

Want to find out if you might be eligible for WIC? The WIC Pre-screening Tool is now accessible at www.fns.usda.gov/wic/. The Tool is currently available in English, Spanish and Chinese (traditional).
