Breastfeeding Services in Berkeley, Charleston & Dorchester Counties

Breastfeeding logoBreastfeeding provides better health, nutrition, immunological and developmental benefits to both mother and infant. It is the preferred method of infant feeding.

We offer a variety of services and programs to help new mothers in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties better understand the benefits of breastfeeding their baby, answer questions, and provide support. These breastfeeding services are provided as part of the Women's, Infants and Children's Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC). For more information about WIC in Region 7, visit our web site.

Breastfeeding Pump Program
Breast pumps are given to eligible mothers who choose to breastfeed their babies. We have three types of pumps available to mothers; they include a manual, single electric, and double electric. We also loan hospital-grade breast pumps to Moms with premature babies or moms who have special circumstances that may require the use of a hospital grade pump.

Call any of our Breastfeeding Peer Counselors listed for assistance with this program.

Breastfeeding Nooks
Each of our six WIC public health clinics now offer clients complimentary use of special breastfeeding nooks.  These are quiet, private places where new mothers can stop in and nurse their infant or pump their milk.

For more information about using the Breastfeeding Nooks call any of our Peer Counselors.
