What is DHEC's role with the new law?
DHEC's role continues to be maintaining the PMP, a program to monitor the prescribing and dispensing of all Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substances by professionals licensed to prescribe or dispense these substances in South Carolina.
How do I sign up to access the PMP database, "SCRIPTS"?
- To sign up to access the SCRIPTS database, go to https://southcarolina.pmpaware.net/login and click the "Create an Account" link.
- When registering for a SCRIPTS account, you must use an email address that is specific to you, not an office email address.
- Your controlled substance ID is your controlled substance registration number issued by DHEC's Bureau of Drug Control.
- You must upload a copy of your driver's license to complete your registration.
- If you are an out-of-state prescriber, please choose that role.
How long will it take for my new user request in SCRIPTS to be approved?
Due to the recent enactment of the law, DHEC is experiencing an extremely large volume of new user requests and inquiries. The turnaround time to approve new users is typically 24 hours, but the large influx of requests is causing some approvals to take up to a week.
