Farmers' market season is May 1 - September 30. WIC participants who receive farmers' market benefits can purchase fruits, vegetables, and cooking herbs using a mobile app or a shopper card at South Carolina farmers' markets.

How Does the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program Work?

Select public health departments participate in the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). Women and children who are certified to receive WIC are eligible to participate, but due to limited funding, not all eligible WIC participants will receive FMNP benefits.

In addition to the monthly benefits, WIC participants will receive $25 in benefits to purchase South Carolina grown, unprocessed fresh fruits, vegetables, and cooking herbs at approved local farmers' markets and farm stands.
