College2College Mentor Program

The College2College mentor program was established to encourage partnerships between colleges and universities across the state of South Carolina. Colleges and universities are the ones with their hands on the ground (and in the bin) and therefore can be some of each other's best resources.

The goal of College2College is to connect colleges that are just starting a recycling program on their campus, or would like to learn how to expand their program, with colleges that have established and growing programs.

Contact us to find out more or to sign up as a mentor or a mentee.

Mentors: College2College mentors are college/university leaders that have established successful and active recycling programs on their campus, are continually working to improve their program and desire to share insight and guidance with other college/university recycling professionals.

Guidelines and Responsibilities:

  • Mentors will be assigned one or more mentees (depending on preference).
  • Mentors will be entrusted to share their knowledge and insight about how to successfully implement and/or run a recycling program on a college/university campus.
  • Mentors are responsible for coordinating meeting time(s) with their mentee(s)
  • Mentors should submit an evaluation form after the initial meeting with their mentee(s).

Mentees: College2College mentees are college/university professionals that wish to establish or improve recycling programs on their campus and are seeking insight and guidance from other college/university recycling professionals.

Guidelines and Responsibilities:

  • Mentees will be assigned one mentor. Mentees can choose to get a new mentor at any time.
  • Mentors will gain knowledge and insight about how to successfully implement and/or run a recycling program on a college/university campus.
  • Mentees are responsible for coordinating meeting time(s) with their mentor.
  • Mentees should submit an evaluation form after the initial meeting with their mentor.
  • Note: Meeting frequency and continuance is entirely dependent upon the mentor and mentee.

After meeting with your mentor or mentee, we ask that you fill out this brief evaluation form in order to help us continually improve the program and the experiences of all involved.

Any mentee that is a S.C. Certified Collegiate Recycling Professional may receive contact hours for actual time spent with their mentor. A form to document contact hours is available. Mentees must fill out the evaluation form before any credit will be awarded for contact hours.
Mentors will receive recognition for their participation and will be eligible for an award based on their involvement to the program. Mentors must fill out the evaluation form in order to be eligible for recognition.
