Certificate of Need Review Panel meeting set
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina's Certificate of Need Review Panel will meet Wednesday, September 12, at 10 a.m. on the 1st floor of the Heritage Building, 1777 St. Julian Place, Columbia.
Appointed by the Department of Health and Environmental Control Board in January 2012, the CON Review Panel includes 24 members who represent a broad range of stakeholder interests. The panel will seek to improve the agency's internal process regarding its CON program through user/provider input. This includes the following goals:
- Streamline the CON process, making it less onerous.
- Standardize the weighting of criteria within the CON regulation.
- Examine the current statute as it relates to the changing needs within the community/population/circumstance.
- Evaluate instances in which CON should and should not be required.

Note to reporters and editors: Physical address for the meeting location is the Heritage Building, 1777 St. Julian Place, Columbia. The meeting will be held on the first floor in the McNeely Conference Room. The meeting is scheduled to conclude at 2 p.m.
