DHEC's Office of Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling offers several series of fact sheets that provide different levels of information on a variety of environmental subjects. Many of the fact sheets offer recommendations on how you can do your part to protect and preserve South Carolina’s environment.

A brief description of each series of fact sheets is provided. In addition, the "SC Green Guide" helps you learn how to protect the environment beyond recycling -- including ways to keep our air clean, conserve water and even prepare for a hurricane.

Do Your Part
 fact sheets are designed for residents who want to do their part in helping protect South Carolina’s environment. Recommendations and tips are focused on recycling and waste reduction issues and contain information on how to recycle specific products (e.g., electronics) and manage other products (e.g., paint) as well as other calls to action (e.g., composting, grasscycling, buying recycled and more).

Technical Assistance
fact sheets are designed to provide more detailed information on solid waste management issues. Several of the fact sheets offer specific information to the regulated community (e.g., businesses) while others provide detailed information for local governments to follow (e.g., waste tire management).

The S.C. Green Guide is a web site that provides background information and a call to action for each of us to do what we can to protect and preserve South Carolina’s environment.

Learn what you can do to become a green driver, keep your drinking water clean, prepare for a hurricane, proper management of hazardous household products and much more. It is our environment. It is our responsibility.
